Follow-up and the rest of the week
We had the Talk on Thursday, and I only noticed how much the worry had been eating into me when it stopped. All in all, it looks not too bad. The commute won't go away, but it's likely to be only 2 or 3 days a week after New Year's. Things might be halfway stable for the next year. (I'll believe that when I see it, but it's a start.)
Everyone is very impressed with my performance, which baffles me to no end, as I suffer from very bad subjectivism when it comes to work: If I can do it, then it's very easy and no accomplishment at all, and any moment now someone will notice that my job could be done by an untrained lemur.
Note to self: It's easy for you because you have 15 years of experience.
Sunday we had the second performance of the "Ceremony", in a church in a nearby village. The weather was rather mild, the interior of the church wasn't. We sang very well, maybe even better than the day before, but significant parts of the audience were more interested in the folkloristic pieces and the brass quintet than in modern compositions. Can't be helped. (BTW, I looked for a performance of the "Ceremony" online, and found this, from a French mixed voices choir.) My stage fright wasn't as bad, I had taken care to avoid coffee and feed myself well, so I was only mildly bad-tempered. After the concert, the organisers had prepared a snack of hot spiced wine, cookies, and liver sausage sandwiches with pickles, so we could warm up and talk some, then we walked over to a Czech restaurant and ended the evening as happy and content as appropriate for the season. We also vowed that our next programme would be solely made of songs of doubtful morals. (Maybe we could do the Carmina Burana *G*)
Monday was the bi-weekly role playing game that I GM. Lots of travelling this time, I got to do a lot of descriptions of places and role-played ferrymen, coffee house owners, some crocodiles, and a melancholy night bird. It was fun, I love it when stuff appears as a all-five-senses image in my head, and the characters talk for themselves.
Tuesday I tricked myself into going to the gym by taking one step after the next, and spend two hours working out quite energetically. Wednesday, of course, I was sore. I also skipped choir practise because I needed an evening off.
Saturday, we plan to have the Big Yearly Cookie Baking Event at R___'s place. As everything I plan to do this year needs one hour in the fridge, I decided to get a head start and prepared some dough yesterday. I don't know who's going to eat all that...
Still haven't written anything. All my creativity is currently going into cooking, it seems. But I haven't given up hope yet.
For the weekend, there's a weather forecast of heavy rain or sleet, and strong winds. I very much hope for it. November was dead boring, and first Sunday of Advent felt like late October, with leaves still on the trees. I can only take so much nice weather, and this November was really pushing it.

Happy to hear...
(Anonymous) 2011-12-04 11:51 am (UTC)(link)I know the feeling about one's qualifications you describe. I'm always sure that people will notice that I'm a big phony and can't do any of the nice things I promise in my applications properly.
Fingers crossed for your wintery weather. It's drizzling here.

Irgendwie geht das vielen so, oder? Wie beim Pokern, man selber ist der einzige am Tisch, von dem man genau weiß, daß er auf ein Paar Siebener blufft. *G*.

Re: Happy to hear...

Guter Job?
