It works maybe one out of five with me, and in two out of five I'll find a way to excuse myself rather quickly instead. (Grey's Anatomy, OMG). But it works better then pimping, because pimping don't work.
B5 was a really memorable example of this, because I had refused to be even vaguely interested in what everyone was raving about for five years or so, when I was hanging out with flederkatz one day and she said, "I just got a box of B5 from the Americans, wanna watch some?" and I went into full fangirl mode roughly 20 minutes into the first ep.
