2012 was ... complicated. I was about to do the year-in-review meme that is going around, but as you might guess if you have read my over-long moving posts, I am not entirely happy with the year, and writing it down again would not make me any happier.
So instead: Hi there, 2013. Bring my shiny starry stuff, glitter and squee, fannishness and ideas, beautiful cats and amazing stories, bring back the lost and keep around the found.
We were 12 at the New Year's Eve party and had food for 24 easily. Everyone liked the new flat, and the arrangement with the open kitchen, although it became a bit crowded at the table. The cats were, as expected, in hiding. We were noisy, but no one complained, and I did not hear anyone else, in fact, I was wondering if anyone but me was home.
At midnight, we did fireworks. So did the more distant neighbourhood, and the edge of the waste land made a great place to see the sky over the whole quarter. Afterwards, we talked until three or four, and then I stayed up, reading, until dawn, slept until one, had breakfast with Ceridwen and Gwydion, read some more and slept another three hours.
And now, of course, I am wide awake. Which might not be entirely appropriate for the time of day, but is nice nevertheless.
