although it is extremely irrelevant in the larger picture...


Yesterday evening I sat in front of my computer, skimming through blog comments which did not catch my attention. I meant to do my household accounts (3 minutes work, max) but felt too tired for it. I thought about going to bed, but it was not even 9 p.m.

Then there was a short blackout (few minutes), which gave me an adrenaline jolt and reminded me that there was ice cream in the freezer. So I ate the ice cream. Then I remembered that there were cookies in the jar, so I ate the cookies.

That done, I opened a story I had been working on, wrote 1100 entirely new words, which included a plot-relevant new idea about the trouble with maps in a lost tech society. After that did the housework I had put off for three or more days, and finally went to bed two hours after the blackout, and slept without waking even once until my alarm clock rang.

Now: Was the reason for that sudden burst of activity the blackout? The time of night (I am naturally nocturnal)? The food?

I want to be able to write. I want to be able to do housework quickly and efficiently. I want to sleep without waking every 90 minutes wondering what I'll do with the rest of the night. (I always go back to sleep, but I never feel actually happy that I can.)

Do I have to request daily blackouts? Buy more ice cream? Imitate a vegetable until my inner clock kickstarts my brain?

Neither of that offers a good long term prospect.

I am really, really worried that I can only function well on more food.
