I finally managed to have my old web site (which I could not access anymore myself) removed.
As it was so old that even the company hosting it (or the company that bought the company that bought the company hosting it) had forgotten all about it, that was a bit tricky and involved a lot of cursing people who, even when given name, contract number, and web site URL were unable to find any of it in their database, and unwilling to admit that the issue might not be solved by me calling the hotline again.
But, it's gone. Progress is made.
Next step: Set it up again at an other ISP...
