The Things You Forget
Jan. 5th, 2026 02:41 pmBecause it's actually winter outside, I wanted to top up the windscreen washer fluid in my car with water and some antifreeze, just in case. Now, I do not drive much, I occasinally lend the car to friends who take good care of it, and the repair shop also checks water levels at the yearly check-up, so, this has not been necessary for years.
And there I am in the dry and not-freezing but very badly lighted basement garage, my hands have completely forgotten how to open the hood, and my brain says "Hands, why are you asking me? This is your job."
Fortunately, outside the light was better and I managed to puzzle out where everything was. So, if the threatened -20°C happen, and enough salt is put on the streest to make the cars look like Krapfen covered in confectioners' sugar, at least my windscreen will be clean.
