Not sure, actually. If so, then decades ago... "Dicke Bohnen" or "Saubohnen" seem to be more common in Northern Germany, so I might have eaten them as a child or teen at some friend's place (my mother liked only green beans).
I just learned that those are the only type of beans that did not come over from the Americas, but are native to Europe and Northern Africa. Tomorrow I'll finally get around to cooking them. Yeah for a fridge with a very cold veggie drawer!
