lyornI've been planning to make big changes to the middle-sized room in my flat (14 square metres) for six years now, and all kinds of things have delayed that, with procrastination, indecisiveness, and difficulties getting a carpenter on top of the list.
But having to stare at my own walls so much because of my illness and then because of the pandemic has finally got me into gear.
And here I'm sitting in a room that is echoing the sound of my keyboard, empty except for my home working space, two items of furniture which will go out on Monday (if all goes as planned), a box labelled "Home office stuff", and two cats.
Today, K---, F--- and I moved out most of 42 metres of books (plus 5 metres of folders), not to mention heaps of notes, maps and mementos, pamphlets and booklets, bags of dice and boxes of cards, and assorted odds and ends, as well as the IKEA shelves that they all lived in. I am amazed at the size of my cellar. The piano has found its temporary place in the living room. The balcony table is disappearing under the giant schlumbergera. The round table Gwydion had taken away on Thursday.
Everything hurts. I'm still strong, but after two years of not bicycling to work and not going to the gym I lack stamina. But: Yeah! It's done!
The week after Whitsunday, the painter will come and re-whiten the slightly used looking walls, and then the carpenter will install...
...MORE BOOKSHELVES !
And over the course of the following months I will carry one box after another up from the cellar, open it, and decide what I will keep and what will go. Right now I am actually looking forward to that.

Also, today I got the "großen Darfschein" (big certificate of 'I'm allowed to') because it's been 14 days since my second vaccination. \o/ !
I feel happy. Probably. Carefully. Not sure if I still know how to, but I'm trying.
