End of Covid-19 protection measures
Mar. 14th, 2022 12:19 pmA pandemic is over when people feel that it's over.
As the majority in Germany seems (not sure about that!) to feel that the Covid-19 pandemic is over, government (though knowing better) intends to end mandatory Covid protection measures on Mar 20.
I'm in two minds about that.
First: Yes, it's neither fair nor reasonable to have 75% of the population wait for the last 23% (not counting kids younger then 5 here) to get over themselves and get vaccinated -- especially not as getting a sufficient number of very long ladders for people to get over themselves might be problematic with still ongoing supply line troubles.
Second: I am, personally, not feeling safe with a return to "normal". I'd probably scale back my social life, contact and activities to reduce my personal risk. I am not enthusiastic about that.
Maybe there's a fix for that. You know the pic, mostly found on antivaxxer sites, about getting a free pizza from Pfizer after 12 vaccinations? My singing teacher told me yesterday that she got her second booster jab last week. (OK, so she's over 70, it's recommended for her.) No questions asked, she said. No lines, no trouble. I think I might be going for that free pizza and a bit more peace of mind with Not-giving-a-shit Day upcoming.
