Better than expected.

Friday evening, we had a neighborhood get-together, which was scaring me. A lot. Because like company get-togethers, or owners' association meetings, I go there because I feel it politically unwise not to, I do my best to pay attention and make nice with everyone, it's damn hard for me, and I hate it, but I can't afford not to. I was so enthusiastic about that thing (not!), especially as I am having nightmares about the owner's association coming after me because of the cat net around the balcony...
I needn't have worried. There was food, which does wonders for my nerves, and I talked with two nice young couples, who were both roleplayers, and liked cats. One of them is living in the flat right above mine, and I took the opportunity to tell them about my new piano and that they should please tell me if they had a problem with me playing.
Saturday, one singer from the ensemble belatedly celebrated her 60th birthday, and we were invited to sing, eat, and generally party. I had my usual very annoying kind of stage fright -- I become moody and bad-tempered. Fortunately, as soon as you get me on stage of put food before me, it dissipates.
There was food, and then we sang, and then there was more food, and music, and a DJ, and I needed to get rid of all that energy, nervous or food-related, and did what would be dancing if I were able to dance, and should be called "energetic jumping up and down to music" when I do it.
I had been freezing the whole day, and expecting some drafty 500-year-old place, I had dressed in a wool sweater, wool leggings, wool skirt, woolen socks, the whole nine yards. I was not dressed for impersonating an Energizer Bunny on the dance floor in a nice, well insulated building. Which was probably for the good as I discovered this morning that I had blisters on the soles of my feet, and a sprained ankle -- good thing that I took at least breaks to cool down! (As they say, middle age is when you party at night as if you were 18, and feel in the morning as if you were 80...)
Only, I think no one in the ensemble will ever believe again that I cannot dance. Although I really cannot.

Um. And did I mention I got a piano last week? But that's another story.
Four work days to go, and then two weeks and a day of vacation. I really need it.
