Time has an Interview with Neil Gaiman and Joss Whedon. It seems to be part 1 of 3, and "not the most accurate transcription you'll ever read". Still, fun. About movies and comics and superheros and the lost geekdom.
SCIENCE
Hurricane FAQ, or, Everything you never really wanted to know about hurricanes (unless you're a weather addict). My personal favourite is Why not to nuke Hurricanes. (Because then you have flooding that glows in the dark! Duh. Well, there are more reasons.)
"The genetic determinists are wrong. There are few inborn differences between men and women." says this article in the Guardian. Unfortunately it lacks all the interesting details.
Philosophy: How Belief In A Just World Hampers Justice.

Secular societies seem to be less dysfunctional.. Does that surprise anyone?

I'm re-reading this for the third time know, and it's still brilliant.
Charlie Stross: Iron Sunrise.
Fun. It seems I'm out of the loop re:current SF genre conventions, though.
Lois McMaster Bujold: The Hallowed Hunt
Pretty, but weak-ish on plot.
Stan Sakai: Usagi Yojimbo #19 -- Fathers and Sons
Good as usual. The drawing style is less 'nervous' than it was in #18. I'm relieved, I feared it was a trend.
Joss Whedon & some other people: Serenity
The comic books. Hm. I want to like that, but it's very little story for the pages filled.
