I'm already used to getting only about 20% of any bonus the company gives me in "real money", with the rest kept in taxes. But this month, as I just found out, a 23% bonus on the gross led to a decrease of 10% of the net, so I think I'll just have to ask the company not to give me bonuses anymore, as I can't afford it.

Well, you might get some of that money with the income tax return, but on the other hand you might not... I always thought that quantum mechanics was weird math, but financial mathmoronics tops it quite easily.

With all the travel, everything is possible... even a miscalculation. Sigh. I'll get out the calculator and check it, and if it seems sound, I'll have to file for tax return. More paperwork. Exactly what I need. :-[

I know what you mean, last year I had more free income-related expenses on my tax-card than I'm normally entitled to (with the new temp job and all), so this year I HAVE to file a tax return, so they see that I have used it, to get it back, nonwithstanding it is in my contract that I have to have it.
I don't know if I made sense, I have no idea how to file a tax report and I used up my daily allowance for officialese. ;)

These things are a horror. Last time I did one, I spent 16 hours for 40 cents return. Worst-paid work I ever did.
